Here is a sampling of what we've been up to...
May 2008: The Symphony Group supported Northrop Grumman's Workforce
Engagement initiative by conducting focus groups throughout the organization's
electronic systems sector. The Workforce Engagement Initiative is part of
an overall organizational assessment overseen by Gallup, Inc.
May 2008: Erica Hoffman, owner of The Symphony Group, completed a
certificate program in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University. The
Georgetown program is accredited by the ICF International Coaching Federation.
February 2007: In an ongoing partnership with Northrop Grumman, The
Symphony Group created a coaching program for the Leadership Training Program.
The program trains alumni from the program to be coaches to existing LTP
participants.
May 2005: The Symphony Group partnered with GEL (Group Experiential
Learning) to facilitate a nautical adventure in leadership with executives from
The World Bank.
May 2003: Erica Hoffman, owner of The Symphony Group, completed a
certificate program in Organization Development from Georgetown University.
March 2003 to present:
The Symphony Group has created an ongoing partnership with Northrop Grumman's
internal Organization and Workforce Development team to design, develop, and
lead a leadership development program for Northrop Grumman's emerging technical
leaders who are a part of the Electronic Systems Sector's engineering and
manufacturing professional development program. The 18-month journey
involves leadership development, career management, 360-degree feedback,
mentoring, and targeted action-learning. The first pilot group started the
program in October '03 with great success.
November 2003:The Symphony Group facilitated a
strategic planning session for the board of directors of the National Maritime
Heritage Foundation. The team revisited their mission and goals which were
identified at a meeting facilitated by The Symphony Group back in 2001.
The session enabled the group to create a tactical action plan for empowering
their executive director, fundraising, and building a volunteer membership base.
July 2003: The Symphony Group continued its work
with Leadership Anne Arundel by facilitating a strategic planning session for
their board of directors. The interactive session enabled the board to
clarify their vision, mission, and values as well as create a tactical action
plan for achieving their goals.
May 2003: Erica Hoffman presented at the annual
conference of the Association of Fundraising Professionals held in Baltimore,
MD. Her presentation covered the process for identifying an organization's
Vision, Purpose and Values and how to align the organization accordingly.
December 2002: The Symphony Group facilitated a team
development program for USinternetworking's marketing team. The session
focused on re-energizing and re-focusing the team for the new year, assimilating
new members into the team, enhancing accountability and initiative among team
members for overall team goals, understanding the team's current performance and
identifying strengths and improvement opportunities, and receiving feedback on
team leadership.
June 2002: The Symphony Group conducted a leadership development course for Northrop
Grumman’s Electronic Systems Sector managers. The course, Helping Others Adapt
to Change, is part of Northrop Grumman’s Transitioning to Management program for
newly appointed managers. The course teaches participants how to effectively
lead and manage during times of change and transition. Trehe content
specifically focuses on what people need during times of transition: Structure,
Information, and Support. The interactive course included experiential
exercises, role-plays, and case-studies to help the leaders practice effective
change-leadership behaviors.
June 2002
The Symphony Group led a 2-day strategic planning retreat for the International
Organization of Masters Mates and Pilots based out of Linthicum, MD. Prior to
the retreat, individual interviews were conducted with a cross-section of the
team in order to create an agenda reflective of the different individual
perspectives within the group. Throughout the 2-day retreat, a Symphony
facilitator led the MM&P team through a process to identify the overall purpose,
values and vision for the organization, as well as a tactical action plan for
achieving the organization’s short-term and long-term goals.
March 2002
The Symphony Group supported Northrop Grumman's Organization and Workforce
Development team in the delivery of their "Transitioning to Management" course,
a required course for all new managers. The course includes a variety of topics
including situational leadership, coaching skills, delegation, and managing
change. The 3-day course was attended by approximately 30 managers of the
Electronic Services Sector and was co-facilitated by both Symphony and internal
facilitators. The Symphony Group has created an on-going partnership with
Northrop Grumman in the support of their leadership training efforts.
"Transitioning to Management" as well as other leadership-focused courses will
be rolled out over the next several months.
February 2002
The Symphony Group facilitated a strategic planning retreat for Northrop
Grumman's Organization and Workforce Development/Diversity team. The result of
this session was a list of strategic priorities and a targeted action plan for
meeting the development needs of the 25,000 employees that the Workforce
Development team serves. In addition, the workforce development team re-examined
their team behaviors and business processes to ensure alignment with the overall
corporate vision and values. During the 2-day session, the team created a new
consulting methodology to continuously guide their behavior and decision-making
process.
February 2002
The Symphony Group continued its support and involvement with Leadership Anne
Arundel by conducting another planning session for their Program committee. As a
result of this meeting, the program committee is launching two public forums for
the citizens of Anne Arundel County. One will be focused on educational issues,
and one on the tax cap. These forums will continue the momentum created from the
strategic planning session facilitated by The Symphony Group back in October-in
which the idea for the first public forum was born. The first forum, focused on
safety in Anne Arundel County, was held on January 23, 2002.
